Another summer tour is in the books. I finished my “Song Cycles with Stormin’ Bob Swanson” summer tour in early July with a mini-tour in North Mississippi — playing three libraries (Como, Hernando and Olive Branch) over the course of two days. Of course, a mini-tour with some travel means one thing to my boys — a hotel stay!
I can’t say enough about how much fun it has been to have my boys (and my wife) as part of my shows in recent years. As a reward for all of their efforts we spent part of July on a family vacation — loading up the Prius and driving from Mississippi all the way to New York City (with stops in DC and Hersheypark along the way). Of course, as the title of this blog post alludes, we managed to catch a couple of plays (“The Office — A Musical Parody” and “Peter Pan Goes Wrong”) while we were in the Theater District.
After getting back from vacation, we played a couple of “eclipse preview” shows at several local libraries. Here’s footage of “Totality Awesome” from the Starkville Public Library.
Now the boys are back in school and my semester is about to start. Keep an eye out for more “eclipse preview” programs this fall and into next year. As for next summer (Summer Reading Program theme is “Adventure Begins at Your Library”), I’ve already got several shows booked and will be working up a fun new program to share with you.
